55 photographs preserved as digital images, 600 dpi tiff, archival copies mostly dealing with Finnish American cooperative materials/images, Bruce Crossing, Michigan, (including Post Office images) and images of Hancock, Michigan. Many of the photos in this collection are of or were taken by Vivian Koski. Vivian Koski lived in Bruce Crossing, a Finnish American rural agricultural community in the west-central part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The collection is from a large brown photo album that contained many family photos as well as landscape photos of the Bruce Crossing, Ewen and Hancock areas. Especially interesting are the interior and exterior photos of the Settlers' Coop buildings and Bruce Crossing Post Office. The interior photos of the Post Office may be the only ones in existence. |
